Guianeya Diaz, or GiGi as friends and co-workers have nicknamed her, has shown a passion for all things journalism from a very young age. A passion that lead her to become cofounder of the publication En Contacto Newspaper, an experience that awarded her the entrepreneurial, marketing, and journalistic experience on which she has continued to build her career. While with EC Newspaper, GiGi worked as graphic designer, writer, and often as sales rep, selling over 50% of the publication’s advertising. All of these roles, while challenging to balance, provided her with networking skills, a large database of contacts, extensive experience dealing with strict deadlines, and the opportunity to conduct interviews for her columns with celebrities such as Cristina Saralegui, Paulina Rubio, Pedro Moreno, Jencarlos Canela, Jordi, among many others. innovative, Guianeya brings freshness to any screen and page. Born in Cuba, where she received training at ICRT (Instituto Cubano de Radio y Television) and later migrating to the USA and adopting American culture while furthering her training, she’s empowered by a diverse background and experiences that allow her to relate to both cultures, making her writing and reporting styles welcoming to all. GiGi has been chosen to host numerous television programs reporting on local news as well entertainment pieces; hosting; and interviewing personalities in the entertainment field- Rakim y Ken-Y, Tiempo Libre, Vacilos- as well as politicians such as and Governor Christine Todd Whitman, Mayor Julio Robaina, and others.
Guianeya is a Florida International University graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology; an academic foundation that has given her great research skills as well as the ability to understand, relate to, and communicate with groups of all different cultural backgrounds; something that has proven to be very useful in her career.
During her journalism internship with Telemundo Network GiGi’s ability to learn quickly, adapt to most work environments, and succeed under pressure earned her the opportunity to work closely with professionals such as Jose Diaz-Balart, Maria Celeste Arraras... and awarded her the role of Field Producer for the network’s national news cast Noticiero Telemundo as well as Al Rojo Vivo for numerous pieces and live shots.
GiGi writes for publications such as Libertad, Tiempo Nuevo, and La Voz de la Calle touching on varied socially relevant topics with each article. She is also the Trackside Reporter for the Isle Casino Racing in Pompano Beach Florida, and freelance reporter for programs such as Miami Hoy. In the 2003 GiGi Diaz founded GiGi’s Academy, a performing arts studio dedicated to offering children a safe place of nurture, growth, and rhythm.
