Today, I had the profound honor of serving as the Master of Ceremonies for a landmark event in Hialeah’s history—the swearing-in of Jacqueline Garcia-Roves as the city’s first woman mayor. This moment was not just a personal milestone for Mayor Garcia-Roves but a significant chapter in the narrative of our community.
Hialeah has been my home since I arrived from Cuba in 1994. It’s where I planted the seeds of my dreams and watched them flourish. My first business, GiGi’s Dance Academy, has been a cornerstone of this city for nearly 23 years, even earning recognition as one of the top three dance studios in Hialeah. Being chosen to lead our city council, esteemed dignitaries, and honored guests through this historic moment was an honor beyond words.
The ceremony was filled with emotion and pride. Mayor Garcia-Roves received a standing ovation as she entered the room, a testament to the respect and admiration she commands. Judge Lizzet Martinez administered the oath, highlighting not only Jacqueline’s accomplishments but also paying tribute to her father’s legacy.
